Albergue O Pombal

My friend and I stayed for one night during the Camino, on May 30, and both woke up with a huge number of bed bug bites. A few days later I tried to call the albergue to report it, but they either couldn’t understand my English or wouldn’t. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it 👎.

BED BUGS! When we said we’d seen them, the host immediately blamed us. He said they’d just fumigated and we were the first people in the establishment, so it had to be our fault. The hostilero also said he’d seen me scratching, and again insisted it must have been me. I was in shorts and a tank top, and clearly had no bites. They wouldn’t refund us, so we left worried about being contaminated. STAY AWAY. Casa de Carmen kindly took us in and lent us plates so we could make sandwiches.

Antonio was a friendly, attentive owner when I stayed here on August 29, 2022. The bunk beds had plenty of space between them, and there’s a lovely garden with a hammock outside. There’s also a nice kitchen with a stove for cooking, plus two bathrooms with toilets. It’s right on the Camino route, and I recommend staying here.

BED BUGS!!! We found them in several beds. The hosts said we must have brought them in and insisted they couldn’t have been there already. They were rude, and one of them even yanked my companion’s shirt down while claiming the spots on her back were bites. We left right away and didn’t get a refund.
