The views across all of Segovia, from the aqueduct to the alcazar, are magnificent both by day and at night. The hotel has lovely scenery from the rooms and grounds, and breakfast is plentiful and fairly priced, though there are no hot options. Parking is free, and transport is useful for getting into town. Still, the place feels run down and needs updating, in the common areas as well as the rooms. That’s disappointing given the Paradores reputation.

Waking up to this view of Segovia is hard to beat. From its hillside perch, the Parador looks over the old city, including the aqueduct, cathedral, and Alcázar, with especially magical light at sunrise and sunset. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and many have private terraces for taking in the scenery. In summer, the pool is a welcome break, and the restaurant does polished takes on local specialties. It’s a peaceful, comfortable base with postcard-worthy views, just a short drive from the historic center.

There’s plenty of parking, and the location works well for Segovia. Our room was quiet and a decent size. The food was disappointing for a Parador, where we usually expect a good standard. Breakfast had far fewer choices than at other Paradores we’ve stayed in, and the dinner menu was just OK. On our second night, we were first into the dining room. I ordered steak, but the waiter came back to say no beef or veal steaks had been delivered. Because of my food intolerances, I only had a couple of alternatives. I chose cod, which was really not good: it came in “breadcrumbs” with sauce, but was more like soggy batter that I had to scrape off, leaving a small, thin piece of fish.
