We loved the hotel’s literary theme and decor, which really stood out. It’s in the heart of Seville, and we could walk to virtually all the attractions we visited. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with a wide range of delicious hot and cold choices, and far more than we expected for just eight euros. You could have breakfast there and be full until supper. Our main complaint was the advertised “laundry services.” There wasn’t actually a laundry service, and we badly needed to do laundry halfway through our trip. The only option was carrying our clothes in garbage bags through the winding streets of an unfamiliar city, in the dark, to a laundromat about four blocks away. Luckily, as we found so often in Spain, helpful locals there volunteered to explain how the machines and payment worked. We’d stay here again, but the hotel should clarify what “laundry service” means in its advertising.

The hotel’s book theme is charming, and the decoration really stands out. Each room seems to take inspiration from a famous book. Ours was based on The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, and the attention to detail showed in the room and the shared areas. The beds were very comfortable, the linens and towels were good quality, the Rituals amenities were a great touch, and the hotel was very clean. Most of the staff were kind and helpful. A few problems really affected our stay. In room 102, a strong sewage smell kept coming from the bathroom the whole time, even with the windows open. We reported it to reception and were told there were no other rooms available and someone would look into it the next day, but nobody did. Also, the red-haired receptionist working afternoons and evenings seemed distracted by her phone and was noticeably unfriendly to us and to the other guests in our group. Sound insulation was poor too. Since this is an adapted older building, we could hear almost everything: showers, doors, conversations, coughing, and people moving around in neighboring rooms and on upper floors. Breakfast was a bit disappointing in both quality and space for guests. They served margarine instead of butter, though the coffee itself was very good.

The staff were especially kind and helpful, and we could leave our luggage there after checking out. The room and bathroom were clean, practical, and big enough. Breakfast had an adequate choice of items. It’s a pleasant little hotel in a really convenient spot, with most attractions easy to reach on foot. I’d happily recommend it.

Ale and Miguel really came through when I arrived at 10:30 at night. My direct reservation hadn’t gone through, but they stayed calm and worked with me to sort it out. Luckily, they had a bed available. I was hungry by then, so they kept my luggage and pointed me toward somewhere still serving food. I can’t praise their professional attitude enough, and I’ll remember the stay for that. The hotel has a quirky, distinctive charm and sits on a side street close to nearly everything I wanted to visit. My room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast had hot and cold options, with juice, tea, coffee, fruit, toast, and more. Adrienne did a good job keeping it stocked.

Parking takes a bit of figuring out and costs 20€ per night, so it isn’t especially cheap. The hotel staff helped us through WhatsApp, though. Good value overall, and the Setas is only a 5-minute walk away.
