Hotel Derby Sevilla

We booked three nights through AmEx. The location is fairly central and easy to get around on foot. Our first-floor room was large and clean, but felt old and in need of renovation. The lobby was clean, and the receptionist was polite, though not especially friendly. We tried breakfast the next morning and found it very basic and underwhelming compared with breakfasts I’ve had at other hotels in Spain. I’d suggest eating somewhere else.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, and the staff were great. Our room was huge and clean. The location is handy, with everything nearby and Aldi’s right next door.

There was no way to sleep comfortably in the room. The AC was off, and it was very hot. The receptionist said they only switch it on from June, and shrugged her shoulders. She said mid-March in Seville is winter and they only provide heating. What a crap system. The room faced Plaza Duque, with incredible traffic noise all night, so opening the window wasn’t an option. I’ll never stay with them again.

The heater was pretty loud and could have worked better. There was also a slight sewer smell in the bathroom now and then, but it was very faint.
