Hotel ITC Sevilla by Soho Boutique

The reception noise carried straight into rooms 2 and 3 on the ground floor, so none of the four of us slept. The double room we got was more like a single, and the toilet dripped and smelled like a toilet tank. When I mentioned it, the receptionist said the rooms were fine. I politely asked if she’d slept in one, and got a smirk back. I asked for a manager, but was told they had the day off, and no one tried to find a solution. I came to Sevilla to celebrate my birthday, but spent the day trying to catch up on sleep in a lousy hotel. Really disappointing.

The breakfast room is tiny, and when it rains the patio can’t be used, so guests may have to wait for a table. That happened today when lots of people came down at once. The man preparing breakfast seemed stressed and irritated, and the whole thing felt awkward. Such a pity, as the staff are lovely and very accommodating. Aside from that one hiccup, we had a great stay. The building is lovely and well located, the rooms are spacious and clean, though some have no windows, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We’d thoroughly recommend it.

We couldn’t get another hotel that late, so my brother’s family and I were stuck staying here. My sister had to leave in the middle of the night with her babies after guests kept being rude and racist to her family, even when the baby made just one sound. After a full day of travel with two kids under three, she had to find somewhere else to stay, and still hasn’t been refunded. We were also refused a refund, and there was no manager on site to speak to. We’d booked three rooms, all dated and not very clean. One smelled of urine. The rooms are tiny, with hardly space to walk or fit luggage, the bathroom cleanliness wasn’t up to scratch, and there’s no soundproofing. All the rooms face an open terrace, so people can hear you passing. We have two toddlers and an infant. Before we’d even got into our rooms, a man came out wearing only a towel and rudely told us to keep it down. The front desk called to say someone had complained about noise. Then his wife came out, called us animals, told us to go back to our country, and yelled and cursed in front of the toddlers. It all happened within five minutes of arriving. The receptionist witnessed it and did nothing to stop the rude, racist behavior. Later, when we came back and simply walked to the room and took the baby out of the stroller, another guest came out and harassed us about noise. Again, the front desk offered no help. It’s completely unacceptable for a place described as family friendly to make an issue of any noise from babies. We’ve never been treated this way toward our kids anywhere we’ve stayed. Zero out of ten. Absolutely do not stay here. Disgraceful.

Inside, the building has interesting architecture with a Spanish and "Moorerish" mix, and the woman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. The first impression outside was poor, though: it’s down a side street with graffiti. It’s about a 25-minute walk to the Cathedral and palace, and handy for the old town, but being central also means noise. The hotel is definitely not for a quiet stay. This was our second Soho boutique hotel, and I’m afraid I wouldn’t use the chain again. Seville itself also wasn’t for me. I found it much too busy, noisy, and the people rude. That’s just my personal experience, though apparently others love it. Overall, neither the visit nor the hotel was pleasant for me, and I wouldn’t return to either.
