When we arrived, the place gave us a deeply unpleasant impression. I can’t understand how a dump like this can still be open to the public. It doesn’t deserve to be called a boarding house and should be CLOSED NOW!! It doesn’t meet any health, safety, hygiene, or other regulations I can think of. They don’t even issue an invoice. Where is the Treasury in cases like this? The Public Agency that grants business licenses ought to inspect this place. It’s unfair to establishments that actually deserve to be called a boarding house, hostel, or hotel. This block isn’t fit for rats. To each their own, but you’ve been warned.

The price wasn’t bad, and at least there were blankets to keep you warm. But the room was in terrible shape, with ants and cockroaches and a hole under the bed in the single room. The shared toilet always had hair in it, and there was no hot water. Apart from one day when a young woman was kind, the service was awful. The staff were rude and barely smiled. The owner even left me out on the street one night because I couldn’t pay that day, as I hadn’t been paid yet. I explained, but she refused. I had a small dog and pets were allowed, but one morning the cleaner, a Latina woman in her forties, knocked and got no answer while my dog barked. Thinking I was asleep, she started insulting him from the other side of the door. Most guests seemed to be marginalized people, people with addictions, and so on. They give no information about the city unless they really like you. Even when they help, they keep hinting that you should leave a tip. After all that and hearing other comments, I moved to Pension Bailen, which was completely different and had exquisite service, just like Hostal Zahira, another charming place.

A typical Sevillian house, and a really pleasant guesthouse right in the heart of Seville. Very good value for money.

I liked the location, the price, and the staff. The bed and bathroom were the things I didn’t like. October 19, 2013

They’ve got everything here, including cockroaches and lions.
