Hotel Sol

The location is incredible, right beside a castle, with a steep uphill walk to the shops. The beds were adequate. If reception isn’t staffed, remember that your room code also opens the building door. (July 2025)

The location was the only decent part. The bathroom was disgusting: hairs all over the shower, toothpaste left on the sink by the previous guest, and it looked like nobody had cleaned up. At check-in, the staff were unwelcoming and acted as though I was bothering them. Absolutely awful.

We loved our two-night stay at Hotel Dol, even though festival weekend meant the price wasn’t exactly cheap. Room 104 upstairs was spacious and clean, with a balcony and views over the city to the left and toward Plaza Zocodover opposite. The bed was comfortable, the shower had good pressure, and there was air conditioning. Everything was within walking distance, so the location was perfect. We parked outside the walls by the Tourist Info Centre and were glad we did. The hotel was only a four-minute walk inside the walls, and access by car is very narrow. Bring your own travel kettle if you want tea or coffee. Breakfast was meagre at €4 for two pieces of toast with jam and coffee. The bar on the corner on the walk up from Hotel Sol does an excellent desayuno for €6.50 per person, including coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. I can recommend both.

Those carved wood details and mosaics give the rooms a welcoming feel, and you can really sense the building's authenticity. The steel armor in the lobby adds to the medieval atmosphere. It’s right in Toledo’s old city, which made it a lovely base for our visit. The hotel has been recently renovated, and the staff were warm and enthusiastic.
