Albergue Villa San Clemente

The worst part was trying to sleep while a large group of men talked loudly, all at once, both late at night and in the morning. No one from the staff was ever present, so nobody explained the rules to guests who might not think about others. They may have just started their Camino in Tui and still felt fresh, unlike the rest of us who needed a decent night's sleep, or any sleep at all. This was the worst stay of my week on the Camino. Please avoid it if you can. The dorm smelled and wasn't clean. I had to put away both the pillow and blanket because they looked awful. There were hardly any amenities, not even a drying rack for washed clothes. The whole place had only three shared bathrooms, and cleanliness was left entirely to the guests.

The garden is incredibly cool, but inside there isn't much good communal space or much of a social atmosphere. The dorms had a creepy, almost haunted feel, and reminded me of an insane asylum. The bathrooms were pretty dirty, and the ladder rungs on the bunks were so thin they really hurt my feet. I slept okay, so it wasn't the end of the world, but I'd skip this place.

We stopped here while walking the Camino, and my partner, who usually sleeps badly, had the best night's sleep he'd had in a long time. The bed was really comfortable and the room had good air conditioning. It cost a bit more than the other places we'd stayed along the way, but it was worth it.

The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty of them, and you could get in any time, day or night. The outdoor shower stalls were especially nice in the hot weather, and there's a pretty garden. The owners were very kind, and the facilities were fine. The stair runners could use a refresh. It's an easy 5-10 minute walk to the center of historic Tui. A nice hostel, recommended!
