For 45€, it’s a bargain: clean, newly renovated, comfortable beds, a hot shower and a very kind host. There’s a restaurant downstairs, though I think it only serves lunch and dinner. It was definitely closed at breakfast. Right in Tui’s old historic area and only a few steps from the Camino, it’s a good comfort stop while walking the Camino Portugues. The photo shows the view from my room.

We’d been travelling for five weeks and this was the first time I’d met such hostility. My husband and I were cycling the Camino and stopped to ask whether the hostel had rooms. The owner was incredibly unfriendly and rude to me, then wanted to charge extra for our bicycles. When I asked to see a room, he just said, “go look on booking”. We left straight away to find somewhere else.

The rooms are a little small, but clean, just right, and each has its own bathroom. The owner was very friendly. The hostel is in an old villa, close to restaurants and bars, and in a great spot on the Camino. Tui is a quiet, beautiful city.
