Palacete Sol De Mayo

The location is perfect for exploring the old town and its churches. José Sánchez, the owner, is pleasant and polite, and could almost run the place as a museum with a guide... Hahaha. The house needs general repairs, especially to the electrical wiring. I don't know how it passed the building inspection, and it didn't even get the certificate required for public access installations. There's far too much junk everywhere, too. The rooms are so cluttered there's nowhere to put a suitcase, hang clothes, or leave anything on a dresser or other furniture. The bathrooms feel a bit unsanitary, with little privacy on the toilet and no ventilation for odors.

The bedrooms are the more comfortable part, with good mattresses and pillows. Downstairs, though, the rooms are especially impractical and uncomfortable. The palace house is architecturally beautiful, a real gem, but it hasn't been maintained well. The kitchen is the worst of it: very old, short on utensils, and only so-so in terms of cleanliness. It could be improved quite a bit.

A beautiful, typical place, with clean sleeping arrangements. Sadly, the equipment could use better maintenance.

We were there on a cold weekend, and the place wasn't set up for those temperatures, especially the bathroom. It had no toilet seat, and the old toilet model was too small. The kitchen felt a bit old-fashioned, and the electrical outlets were unreliable. A few simple upgrades would make me give it a higher rating.
