Casa Emilia

Emilia was the best part of my stay, such a kind and lovely person. I’d booked Casa Emilia through Airbnb just before Easter Sunday, and hiking and the weather had thrown off my travel plans. Her place was a brilliant spot to wait out a few rainy days off the trail. It had a comfy bed, a warm room, kitchenette, table, couch, and a little balcony where I drank plenty of tea and watched people move through the rain. Emilia even drove me to the next town. What a gem of a person.

The balcony was especially lovely, with a mountain view. We’re two backpackers from Germany who needed somewhere to stay at short notice, and the staff at Casa Emilia were really friendly and helpful. The place was clean, the bed super comfortable, and the location great. We’d definitely return.

We’re two bikepackers from the US, and booking the room felt a bit confusing and unconventional. We called Emilia when we reached Ubrique around 5 pm on a Friday, and she said there was space and asked us to come in 10 minutes. A woman who said she was a compañera of Emilia’s met us on the street, and we paid her 60€ in cash. That seemed kind of sketchy, though everything turned out to be legit. The room was charming, clean, and full of character, in a great location. We loved having breakfast on the balcony with the cliffs in view. I’d been wary after reading the Google reviews, but I’m glad we stayed.

Emelia is a good person. I’ll definitely come back, and I’ll bring my friends.
