We spent about 30 minutes visiting the tower, and it was just 2 euros per adult to enter. Climbing up for the city views was lovely. Near closing time, there was almost nobody at the top.

It’s well worth a visit, and absolutely recommendable. The price was very low, and the views are beautiful, as is the old architecture of the gate. There isn’t much to see inside, but the views make up for it. It would be nice to have more information about the gate.

A great activity for kids, especially if you read up on details about the towers or make up stories to wow them. The views from the top are worth the small fee, unless you catch one of the Sundays or other festivities when I think entry may still be free. This is one of the city’s most iconic historic landmarks. The cannon balls from the french left their marks, and what remains of the city gate and wall is worth studying closely. Most people don’t realize a chunk of the original wall is still standing.

The climb is manageable, though you’ll want decent legs for it. Once you’re up, the whole city opens out below, and the staff are really friendly. We came away with loads of great photos. 🩷

If you’re nearby, it’s worth stopping in for the view. You’ll need a ticket to go up, but it isn’t too expensive.
