The evening lighting is really nice.
There’s barely any greenery, so this works more as a historic spot than as a plaza. The central monument is dedicated to Francisco Pizarro. It’s called “Manises” because the Palace of the Marquis of La Scala, once home to the Boil family, lords of Manises, is here. Buildings around it include the Palace of the Generalitat, Vallier House, and the Tower of San Bartolomé. 🗽
I’ve been meaning to review this little square, which I visited a few years ago. It may be small, but it carries a lot of meaning for the city and the kingdom. From the middle, turning all the way around gives you a view of the Palau de la Generalitat, the Palau de la Baylia, the Palau del Marqués de Scala, and the Palau Vallier, now a hotel. There’s a small garden in the center, with a statue of Pizarro on a pedestal. Both the Palau de la Baylia and the Palau de la Scala are home to the Provincial Council of Valencia.
At the center of the square, a garden surrounds a monument with a statue of Francisco Pizarro atop a Doric column. Manises Square is notable for its architecture, with several old palaces adding elegance to the area. The Palace of the Generalitat dominates, and the other historic buildings include the Palace of the Baylia, the Palace of the Marquis of La Scala, Vallier House, and the Tower of San Bartolomé.
A lovely square with Italian-style fountains, the Valencian Generalitat building, and statues of notable figures from Spanish history.
