HN Las Brisas

The apartment smelled awful, had a sticky patch on the floor, and was generally very dirty. There weren't even blankets on the bed. It was advertised as a B&B, but it's actually a block of public apartments with rooms rented individually, so you don't know who you'll be sharing the apartment with. I thought €30 couldn't be that bad, but I wish I'd spent the money on a better place. For €10-15 more, you can get a room that feels almost five star by comparison. When I arrived, I asked the owner Jose for a refund because of these problems. He ignored me for days, then basically said, "tough." I don't know why booking.com still lists him, or who registered this as a business or accommodation when it so clearly isn't. Stay away!

We booked a room for four and messaged on Whatsapp early that day to confirm our arrival time, but when we got there at 10pm, one bed had no blanket. The owner said he was out of town and wouldn't sort it out, and his local employee wouldn't come either. My son ended up using his jacket as a blanket. The owner just didn't care. The bedding and room hadn't been cleaned properly, and there was a strange smell. This is a private bedroom in a shared apartment, so expect to be with strangers, although our neighbours were friendly. You'll need a car to get anywhere. I also worried about loose sockets beside one of the children's beds, and more than half the bulbs were missing or didn't work. The shower was excellent, though, and had a built-in radio! There's no breakfast, despite the B&B description. We speak Spanish, but anyone who doesn't may struggle. Really disappointing. The owner takes the money but doesn't look after the place or the guests.

The rooms were a great size and the location was great. The owners were very friendly, too. Breakfast was the one letdown: just a few things in the fridge, with no eggs or continental-style food.

The staff were kind, though they don't speak foreign languages. Fine for a short stay, especially if you're travelling by car.
