The only good part was the balcony view. After hiking 30 kilometers, we arrived to find reception had no record of the booking I had made a month earlier for two people. I showed the confirmation email several times, but that didn't help. With everything else in VGR booked, we had to accept a single-person pension room. The place was dingy and not very clean, and the two of us ended up sharing a one-person bed.

Breakfast was a real treat, especially the fresh fruit and delicious homemade jams. The owners were thoughtful and helpful, and the place had a private, home-like feel. Everything was clean, tidy, pleasant and well equipped, with good value for the price. It was easy to walk to the beach, restaurants and main trails from La Calera. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

Breakfast is worth choosing here. There are homemade options like jams, avocado dip and sweet bread, and we were offered fruit salad and eggs once. We had a lovely stay in a quiet spot, still within walking distance of the beach and Valle Gran Rey restaurants. Our room had a little balcony and a sea view, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The bathroom did have a bit of a smell, which is why I'm giving four stars. It was a great base for exploring La Gomera, and we'd happily recommend it.

There are lots of plants and greenery around this lovely rural hotel in La Calera. The beach and Valle Gran Rey are both walkable, and breakfast came with fresh fruit and tasty homemade marmalades. The hostess and staff were attentive. Smoking is still allowed outside and on balconies, unfortunately, though it seems to be that way everywhere in Spain. Highly recommended for a stay in Valle Gran Rey.

We only managed to stay for our last night, in an apartment, which was a shame. It was peaceful, with lovely views, a great breakfast and a very comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean. We'd definitely come back. Thank you!
