I was there for work because of forest fires, and it was perfectly decent. I slept well and got a good rest. The staff were helpful, polite, and friendly. I liked it.

This hostel is a joke. We’d booked a double room with a double bed about eight days ahead, but on arrival I was given what they called a room on the fifth floor, right up in the attic. The bathroom was almost bigger than the space they’d squeezed in: a 1.35m double bed, two chairs, a tiny 20cm by 20cm table, and a broom cupboard being used for something else. Even by a generous estimate, the room was only about 2m by 2.20m, so moving around was nearly impossible. It was unbearably hot, and the window had a grille locked shut. I suppose it wasn’t up to regulations. We paid €45. It was August 14th, there was a heatwave, and wildfires nearby were polluting the air. When they offered a fan after we asked to change rooms, it felt like a glimmer of hope, until we realized there was nowhere to put it and nowhere to plug it in. There was just one socket in that tiny room. This kind of thing can wreck what should have been a good day. They should explain these problems in advance so people can decide whether they’re willing to accept them. Please don’t mislead guests. The website claims Wi-Fi in common areas, but it doesn’t work. It also mentions a desk, yet there isn’t even room for a pen in this hallway of a room. Feeling stuck in a cubicle instead of enjoying a room on a summer holiday is unacceptable. And I nearly forgot the mattress protector. It has a plastic lining to keep it from getting soaked, so it doesn’t breathe and makes the heat unbearable. What a nuisance! If you can, find somewhere else. This has been a complete disaster.

We had a very pleasant stay from May 27th to 29th. Our room had a balcony with lovely views of the town, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d highly recommend it. We’ll stay here again when we return to Vega.
