Hostal O Rancheiro

The place is a little remote, so you’ll probably need motorized transport to get into town. That’s the only reason I didn’t give it five stars. On the plus side, it’s right next to a hospital, handy in a medical emergency. For budget accommodation, the price, quality, and cleanliness are top notch. Breakfast is limited, but the lunch menu is tasty.

While I was away in the city, they charged my card for the second night without asking and entered my room. I had to call Expedia about it. The electricity then went off for 20 minutes while I was in the room on the phone. In the end, Expedia helped cancel the second night and get the money returned. Avoid this hotel at all costs. I’d booked two nights, but when I arrived there was no reception, just a bar. The receptionist, who was also the waiter, said there was a problem and he only had a room for one night. I was disappointed and said I’d find another hotel for the second night. He agreed to charge me for only one. He told us to go into town while someone cleaned the room, which took an hour and a half. When we came back, he said he’d realized the room was actually available and had charged us for the second night while we were out. Reply to the all caps comment: Things would have gone smoothly if you hadn’t tampered with our two-night reservation. After we agreed to change it, you couldn’t charge us without consent or go into our room while we were out. The whole thing left us feeling insecure in the middle of our vacation. Also, don’t serve coffee while hotel guests are waiting to check in. The service was extremely inefficient and unprofessional.

The room was comfortable and had good WiFi and TV. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced.

You can park outside or near the hospital, but the rooms aren’t very clean.
