We come here every year for skiing in Pajares. It's a straightforward hostel with what you need, and it's clean and warm. Breakfast is simple but really good: toast with local country bread, juice, and coffee. Dinner, including the desserts, is wonderful and all homemade. We've only seen the area under snow, but it's gorgeous. Highly recommend it.

This was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. We struggled to reach the hostel, with no phone signal, in the middle of nowhere. The road felt dangerous, with no safety measures or lighting. We tried every way we could to contact "Mrs." Matilde and never got a reply. When we arrived, we were met rudely and without warmth. There was an unpleasant smell in the building, and the owner was aggressive and rude. We left even though it meant losing the money we'd paid and having to find another place on the afternoon of August 15th, with all the hassle that involved. I can't understand how AirB&B could list this property when they usually choose safe places. I strongly advise against staying here. You'll be alone in the mountains with this old hostel and poorly educated people. One word for the experience: "spooky".

Matilde cooked us dinner when we asked, and even offered seconds. The owners are elderly and very kind. The rooms are small but clean, and the mattress was perfect. We were also allowed to store our motorcycles under lock and key. The accommodation is in a remote village and is practically the only place to stay, so it's a good base if you're in the area. It's somewhere to rest, recharge, and eat, after checking with Matilde. Don't expect leisure or entertainment, as that's not what it's for. I mention this because I've seen negative reviews, and honestly, after staying here, I don't agree with them.

A wonderful place to spend the night, right in the middle of the mountains.

Matilde is all heart, with a joyful, infectious spirit that lifts you up and can make you see life differently. She's a wonderful host and an even better person. The hostel itself is beautiful, cared for with love, and full of little details, in a spectacular setting. Its host is always working to make sure guests are comfortable.
