Hotel Eurostars Rey Fernando

I arrived worn out from my trip and asked if there was a room with a bath. The staff at Eurostars Rey Fernando were incredibly kind and gave me a free upgrade because one was available. The stay was great, the room was super comfortable, and parking was easy. Very happy :)

I was traveling with children and booked through Booking.com two months ahead. When the host tried charging my card right after booking and then again a month later, both payments were declined. I contacted the property to ask whether I should add funds to the card or pay in advance, and the owner told me payment would be collected on arrival. The host then kept asking me to change my card details, which made me seriously question their intentions. It felt dishonest and unprofessional. I strongly advise other travelers to be cautious about booking this property.

My personal pillow went missing, apparently taken by the cleaning staff. I asked at reception several times and explained how much it meant to me, but nobody made a serious effort to look into it. I also asked repeatedly to speak with the manager, but was told each time they weren’t on site. Nobody followed up. After leaving, I contacted them again and gave them my email address. Several months later, I still haven’t had a reply. Guest care clearly isn’t a priority here. I stayed for several weeks, and the airport flight path directly over or beside the hotel brought a lot of noise. The windows were poorly insulated, and the staff weren’t very cooperative. The elevators were unreliable and extremely slow, and they felt overloaded even with just a few people. Breakfast was especially disappointing. The staff seemed unmotivated, particularly with international guests, and were slow to help when food was missing or cutlery was dirty. There were ants in the breakfast area, and the coffee machines and other equipment didn’t seem to be cleaned regularly. Most concerning, visible mold stayed on the Nutella dispenser for more than two weeks. I’ve traveled for work for over seven years and stayed in many hotels, but never had an experience like this. Based on what happened, I can’t recommend staying here.

The room was spacious but dated and worn, and the bed was uncomfortable. The whole place was dirty, including the outside, and the hall carpets ought to be ripped out. The bar was a joke, and the restaurant was terrible. We were kept awake all night by diesel trucks coming and going at all hours from the dozens of commercial truck depots on the street. This is a one-star hotel with a lousy location. It tarnishes the Eurostars brand and its chain, which claims to offer four-star hotels. I suppose it survives on group rates for tour buses, but I wouldn’t stay there again even for free.
