AYA Addis Hotel

The corner suite had loads of space, and room service was great. Staff were polite and always ready to help. It’s only a few minutes from the airport, with plenty of malls within walking distance, which suited me since I love shopping. A solid hotel.

There are shops, restaurants, and nightlife within walking distance, and the airport is close too. My room was a good size, with a nice bathroom. Breakfast had a spectacular range, and dinner was tasty, well made, and reasonably priced. The staff spoke good English and were friendly and helpful.

I want to clarify my earlier review after the hotel’s response, because I don’t want this brushed aside. I paid the restaurant bill by card, and its exchange rate was 5% better than the front desk’s. The hotel next door also offered a better rate, which shows the rate isn’t fixed. Paying in birr was possible with cash or card. So please don’t tell tourists otherwise. It’s better to pay in birr, and there’s no way to prove the opposite.

After my friend died at that motel, they took her to the hospital and left her there alone, with no hotel staff, in a foreign country where they knew she didn’t speak the local language. It took two hours just to call their own van, and then another two hours to reach a hospital only 15 minutes away. The hotel needs to be closed!
