Tirar International Hotel

The staff were very friendly, and the food was tasty even though it arrived cold. The room was cold too, especially with the rain, and the shower water was ice cold. The rooms are old, and noise from people moving and talking in the corridor carried in. Ethiopian Airways put me here after a layover; I had first been booked elsewhere, then the hotel was changed at the last minute, which I regretted.

The waiters and concierge were the best part of this hotel. The restaurant service felt warm and welcoming, and the staff were efficient and attentive, making sure we were fed. The concierge arranged wake-up calls and ran to each room so nobody missed the airport bus. Well done to them. I stayed in room 501. The room was clean and the sheets were crisp, but the pillows felt like wooden slabs. The dark wood furniture is good quality with intricate patterns, though that beauty gets lost when you take in the room as a whole. The patterned wooden tile floors are another feature worth keeping. The hotel needs cosmetic work and plumbing improvements, especially in the bathrooms, where the plumbing and shower cubicles need modernising. The beds are really big and comfortable, and there was hot water in the rooms. The lift was in good working order, and the staff provided great service. They speak Fuentes English. A pickup and drop-off van is available. Food prices are moderate, the dessert is great, and the view from the front porches is lovely.

The staff were amazing, and we had a good time with them. The service itself was fine, but the shuttle never showed up, so we had to take a taxi from the airport. The rooms were okay, though every one I tried had lots of cockroaches and a broken shower. I changed rooms five times and found the same problems each time.
