We had a nice two-night stay in November'25. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel has a spa. We arrived early, but the polite staff stored our luggage for free. There’s a supermarket across the road and lots of nearby places to eat. You can walk to Helsinki Central Station in about two minutes, as the hotel is almost part of it. Trams and buses stop just outside. I’d recommend staying here in Helsinki.

The renovated hotel is attached to the train station, making it handy for the airport, city centre, shopping, and trains to other cities. Check-in and check-out were quick. My room was spacious and quiet, with a really nice shower. The phone was quite old, but the minibar was full. There was no complimentary water, and the breakfast was better than at many other hotels. I’d recommend it if you’re staying in the city centre for a few days.

The location was great, but this was the worst Scandic I’ve stayed at out of more than seven, maybe eight. The TV said I could connect my phone for YouTube or Netflix, but when I tried, it showed as unavailable. The charging port didn’t work either. The shower had a weak trickle of water. There wasn’t even a kettle in the room, and renting one cost 5 euros. The receptionist kindly said I could get hot water from the coffee machine. I’ll update this after trying breakfast tomorrow.

Oodi, Helsinki’s main library, is right next door, with loads to do: borrow musical equipment, record in a studio, use 3D printers and sewing machines, play PlayStation, or browse the books. Getting around the city is easy too, with walking trails, bike paths, outdoor exercise stations and light rail stops all over. The hotel reopened at the end of September 2025 after a full remodel, so everything is new. Our three-person room was cozy and comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. The evening sauna was relaxing. Breakfast was free and had lots of tasty Finnish food, plus a separate gluten-free area with its own toaster. Cards throughout the breakfast area mark foods that are gluten-free, lactose-free and so on. The light rail stop is right beside the hotel, but it’s so quiet you wouldn’t know it was there, day or night. The free hotel bikes won’t be available until spring 2026.

The beds were really comfy, and the staff were lovely. With the train station right beside the hotel, getting around was easy. I’d definitely recommend it to parents travelling with kids! 👍
