Hostel Kemijärvi

The views were the only good part of this one-night stay. The cottage was dirty, and they didn't give us a key. We were told to just close the door when we left the next morning. Incredible. No one was at reception when we arrived, so we called a number and someone drove over. We'd already paid 7.5€ online, leaving 57.5€ to pay there, and they were supposed to apply a 10% discount for our youth hostelling card. First, they asked if we had bed sits. We said we had towels and sleeping bags, but were told sleeping bags weren't allowed, so we had to pay an extra 12€ each, 24€ for the two of us. Then they said the total was 81€. We explained about the 7.5€ already paid and the discount. He got angry, said he couldn't see our account online and it was impossible we'd paid, even after we showed the receipt. He also insisted the discount had already been applied, which wasn't true. In the end, we had to pay 81,20€ on top of the 7.5€ we'd paid online. It was an unexpectedly expensive night and the organization was disastrous.
