Lapland Hotels Oulu

The breakfast was very good, even exceptional by Finnish standards. One chef made perfect omelettes quickly, 10/10! The room felt new and nice overall. The sauna’s timer was quite short, and its single wall button came with no clear explanation of how it worked. Still, the löyly was smooth and we rested well, even though the fire alarm woke us up.

The room and bathrooms were wonderful, and housekeeping did a fantastic job. The accommodation itself was spectacular, though the building was noisy, with doors constantly slamming. There wasn’t a private balcony, since it looked down onto the restaurant below. After a week there, I found reception fantastic, professional, informative, and helpful in every way. The restaurant was a letdown. Its menu was very limited and the food simplistic. The wine pairing was moderately well done, but left a lot to be wanted. Breakfast was fantastic and as expected, but the rest of the food was only alright, nothing special. Service from the waiters and waitresses was lackluster for such an esteemed place. The reindeer of the week felt more like reindeer of the month. I had it twice, once one week and again the next, hoping it might have changed. It hadn’t. The dish was unimaginative and underwhelming for the price, the portion wasn’t satisfying, and I left the restaurant hungry.

I found the room too warm at night, since the temperature couldn’t be set below 20°C. That was the only downside. The rooms are stylishly designed, clean, and comfortable to return to after a day out. Breakfast was the highlight, with a fantastic range of fresh, high-quality choices every morning. A great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it if you value a top-notch breakfast and stylish rooms.

Right in the city centre, and everything was great: service, room, pool, sauna, dinner, and breakfast. This might very well be the best hotel in Oulu.
