The Beachouse

I picked this place for a January 2026 stay because it was the best value I could get with points, and it gave me the three things I was looking for. It also made a handy base between Nadi and Suva for exploring the Coral Coast and nearby areas. The beach is gorgeous and felt almost empty. There’s around 100 metres of sand in front, with a couple hundred more metres stretching southeast. At high tide the water reaches the hammocks and swing, great for photos. At low tide I walked about 30 metres from the hammocks to swim. The free kayaks and SUPs were a nice extra. The pool is small, clean, pretty and surrounded by gardens, and it never seemed busy while I was there. Breakfast is included and simple: yoghurt, cereal, toast, fruit and hot drinks. It was enough to get me going, and I’d take another piece of fruit for later. The kitchen has daily meals at surprisingly affordable prices, especially given the limited nearby options. I had curry chicken one evening and kokoda fish another, both were excellent. The kitchen staff were always friendly and helpful. My Garden Room was basic but comfortable, with air conditioning, bedside tables and a dresser. There’s no wardrobe, which didn’t bother me. The bathroom has a big outdoor tiled wet area with an overhead shower. It’s a little dated and much of the grout is gone, so water pooled and drained slowly through the gaps. Still, showering under the open sky was a highlight. The toilet and vanity are covered, though the roof leaked a little during heavy rain. A few clotheslines would help, since towels and swimwear took ages to dry in the humidity on the hooks provided. One extra I only found out about after arriving was the on-site massage service in a private area, away from the beach. It was just $40 for an hour, great value. Fiji Beachhouse has a lovely location, great staff and a lot to offer for the price.

The drive from the airports takes a while, which cuts into your beach holiday a bit. Still, I’d happily recommend the Beachhouse and stay again. I was travelling alone and felt welcome and safe there, with lovely staff throughout. When the airline lost my bag, the bartender stayed after closing to collect it once it was delivered to the hotel and bring it to me. Such a kind thing to do. I also spent a few relaxing days in the hammocks and swimming in the beautiful pool and warm ocean.

This was my third visit to Fiji, and my best one yet. Fiji Beach House is a small, intimate place for a more authentic Fijian experience. If you’re after a huge resort, it won’t be the right fit. The grounds are beautiful, the staff are so welcoming, and we loved our rooms and the outdoor bath area. There’s a beach right in front, plus a pool, and plenty of fun trips on offer. I’m definitely coming back.

The day trip to Yanuca Island was the best part of our weekend. We had a tasty BBQ lunch, snorkeled in clear water, then spent the afternoon relaxing on the soft white sand. We even spotted pilot whales, which made the day unforgettable. From arrival, the staff made us feel at home with their warmth and friendliness. The whole stay had an easygoing, welcoming feel. A getaway with adventure, downtime and true Fijian hospitality, and we had a great time. We’ll be back.
