De Vos on the Park

Justin at the front desk was nice, and the location was great. The room itself was in pretty rough shape: the beds hadn’t been made, there were big cockroaches, and the dirty balcony couldn’t be used. When I switched the bathroom lights back on, they shorted out all the lights except the bedside lamp, so we gave up and sat in the dark. Otherwise, the room seemed fairly clean.

I paid way too much for a run-down, smelly room. Things were broken or falling apart everywhere, and cockroaches were running around. The lift and the TV in my room didn’t work either. What you see and read online isn’t what you get, and I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

The room had a leaking air conditioner, mould, blood on the sheets, no pillowcases, and no duvet. The pillows looked older than me, and there were no stars for this experience. Keys worked in multiple rooms, and hotel staff would suddenly come into your room for no reason. The list goes on. Don’t stay here unless you want to catch some kind of disease.

The rooms are spacious, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent for Suva city center. It’s under renovation at the moment, and many furnishings, fittings, and decorations need updating, including the lift. The price is good for what’s offered, and I’m looking forward to seeing what changes once the renovation is finished.
