For the price, it’s well kept, in a great spot, and the staff are friendly. The kitchen food is really good, especially their chilly chicken 🐔 😋. It’s handy if you just need somewhere to crash for the night, though rooms facing the main road get some traffic noise.

The security guard followed us around the hotel and got worked up before we’d even done anything. We’d bought Tribe drinks to try in our room, and we understood the property’s alcohol policy, so we put them in a water bottle and went for a walk to sip them. We hadn’t drunk alcohol on the premises, but the guard rudely assumed we had some, tracked where we went, and we ended up drinking outside in the dark. Earlier, six packets of my cigarettes had also vanished from the room. We weren’t even allowed to have our own alcohol by the pool, though staff could drink grog there. The whole thing made us feel embarrassed and unwelcome. Peninsula, you ruined our stay; I won’t book here again. Please train staff to treat guests more kindly and understand the situation.

I was supposed to stay 17 nights, but left as soon as I found another hotel. There was no WiFi or bedside lighting, and I couldn’t bring alcohol onto the property, so I couldn’t have a glass of wine in my room after work. The food at the restaurant was overcooked. In my room, there was no hot water, blood on the pillow, hair left by previous guests in the shower, mold in the bathroom, and dirty towels. The toilet leaked across the floor, and the couch had broken springs that made you sink into it. Staff were lovely on the first day, but rude the morning after I complained. People starting their shifts shouted across the courtyard at 4:30 a.m. and woke me up. Avoid this place.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well looked after, with decent amenities for the price. Housekeeping kept everything tidy, and reception staff were welcoming; check-in was easy. Parking was limited, though there is space in front of the hotel. It’s shared on both sides of a busy road, so getting parked was tricky and traffic noise was constant. The reception area also felt hot without air conditioning, especially in warm weather. The old, slow elevator could be a hassle for people on higher floors, particularly with heavy bags. Hotel Peninsula is reasonably located and offers a decent stay, but better parking arrangements, less noise, a faster lift, and air conditioning at reception would improve it. If you can manage those inconveniences, it’s a reasonable option.
