Les Loges Annecy Vieille ville

The morning breakfast was abundant and delivered right to our room. We rented a one-bedroom apartment and found it one of the coziest, most comfortable places we've stayed. The welcome was warm, with great tips on things to do and places to go nearby. The living room was nicely decorated, the kitchen small but practical, and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped, even with bathrobes. It was a wonderful hotel experience.

The room was stylish and well equipped, with a kitchenette, plush bed and pillows, bathrobes, and a fireplace. We appreciated the walkthrough of the appliances, fireplace, and steam bath. The street facing room had character, but there was noticeable noise, especially with the window open because we couldn't work out the AC. Things finally got quiet around 1 AM. One disappointment was the complimentary bottle of spirits listed on our Expedia booking. The host said they didn't offer it and that we should take it up with Expedia, which wasn't helpful. The location in the heart of Annecy's old town is fantastic, and the accommodations are charming with thoughtful amenities. Our arrival, though, was awkward. We were there about 30 minutes before check-in and were happy to wait, but couldn't figure out how to get in. There were almost no instructions, and the hotel wasn't clearly marked from the street. The Austrian couple who manage it run the tiny cafe next door. They watched us, along with another family, struggle to work out where to go, as if they didn't know either. After a few awkward minutes, the man we now jokingly call “the gatekeeper” asked what we were doing and helped the other family inside, then left us outside. He spoke only French. Another 15-20 minutes passed before he came back to help us. Once we were in, the stay improved a lot. We enjoyed it overall. The hotel is beautiful and the location hard to beat. Clearer, more welcoming check-in would have made it a five-star experience.

Holy wow, we haven't been treated or fed this well in ages. We ate and drank through all the courses, then stayed at the hotel too. Such a great idea. The hotel was incredible. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

We told them about our late check-in as soon as we booked and followed all their instructions. The confirmation email even says to contact the property in advance if arriving outside reception hours, with the contact details on the booking confirmation. But they still cancelled our booking, leaving us at 8 pm to find somewhere else on a cold, wet night in the Alps, and they didn't refund us. I wonder how much they make by cancelling guests without refunds. The customer service was very poor, basically nonexistent. They didn't reply to dozens of emails, messages, or phone calls.
