The Mas itself is lovely from the outside, and the men working the land were friendly. We watched them harvesting rice with interest. Our gite, Le Jardin, was clean, and we stayed for a week. The welcome from the owner was rough, though, and she didn’t volunteer basic information or supplies. We had to ask for the internet details, and she told us to go to her office in her home with a camera to take a picture of the code. We had to ask where the washing machine was, since it was shared and in another part of the mas, and ask for a bath mat even though we’d paid Eur 12 per person for bath towels. We also had to request an iron, as only the ironing board was provided. There were about 12 large plates, 12 smaller ones, 12 saucers and lots of coffee cups, but no cereal bowls. When we asked for bowls, the answer was, “No. pas possible because it is only a 2 Epis gite.” There was no salt, washing-up liquid or toilet paper either. The gite is very basic, with uncomfortable sofas, chairs and beds. The furniture is plasticky, the lighting setup is awkward and cold, and some light switches are hidden away. The decor is a challenge to the eye, which is a shame in such a beautiful mas. This is not a Gite d'Exception, despite the name.

There’s plenty for children to enjoy, from walking around and seeing the animals to playing. The apartments are nice, the setting is beautiful, and you can get some quiet away from the city. The owner was friendly and showed us the farm.

We all felt at ease in the cottage, two adults and our six-year-old, and loved being so close to nature. Our stay was peaceful and left us feeling refreshed. Dominique knows the region inside out and was always available with thoughtful tips, from sightseeing to dealing with mosquitoes. She gave us such a warm welcome. Le Mas worked its magic on us, especially at South Terrace. A beautiful experience we won’t forget soon. Thanks for sharing! ;-)

The pergola is a peaceful, relaxing spot among greenery and flowers, with flowering trees, a lake, horses and ducks around it. The cottage is well equipped and has an outdoor terrace. It’s about 10 minutes from Arles and also not far from Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, with lots to see and do nearby. The owner welcomed us and took us to the pergola, then showed us around the property and passionately explained her work and the different crops. She also took time to talk us through ways to explore the region. Thank you, Dominique! The Landes team

We had a wonderful stay in the well-kept Gîte de la Pergolas. It’s a calm, pleasant cottage, though it gets a little dark because it faces north. The garden is lovely, and we enjoyed looking out at the horses in their paddock. Dominique gave us a warm welcome and, if you’re interested, will show you around her land and explain with real enthusiasm how the rice paddies are cultivated. The dog is big but very affectionate and follows its owner perfectly, so don’t be afraid of him. We loved exploring this part of the Camargue by bike. Many thanks to Dominique for sharing her passion for the area.
