Maison Sempé

The shared dinner was a little challenging for us as non-French speakers, but the warmth and hospitality made it feel priceless. Before dinner, everyone gathered for wine, then we sat down to a lovely homemade three-course meal. The food used wonderful local ingredients and was prepared with care. We stayed two nights and had a great experience. Our room was spacious, clean, and looked out over the garden and mountains. Highly recommended!

The room was excellent and the WiFi was strong. Maison Sempe is a beautifully renovated old house, and a very peaceful place to stay. Sylvie and Jean Paul are kind and interesting hosts. It's a good base by the scenic D-918 road in Val d'Azun, with Bridge of Spain, Lac de Gaube, Gavarnie, and Pic du Midi de Bigorre as nearby destinations. From our south-facing window, we saw a colorful sunrise over Pic du Midi de Arrens Marsous. We stayed in June 2016 and recommend it.

The meals were delightful, and the hosts made us feel welcome. It was a comfortable, homey place to stay. English will get you by, though it only goes so far, so brush up on your French.

Sylvie and Jean-Paul are thoughtful, kind people whose calm manner puts you at ease. They gave us useful hiking advice and know the mountain range really well. Our comfortable rooms were beautiful and tastefully furnished, and breakfast was homemade with care and passion. The region and its villages are lovely and still unspoiled. We came away enchanted.
