Hôtel d'Angleterre

The hotel is in an excellent spot and makes a great base for exploring. The room layout was unusual, especially the bathroom arrangement: the toilet and shower were in one room, with no sink there. I've heard that's common in some French homes, but for a hotel stay I found it odd and inconvenient.

The street is quiet and leafy, and the hotel sits in a good spot in the old town. They advertise private parking, but it isn’t guaranteed, and we couldn’t use it. The room was very worn and clearly needs renovation and better upkeep. The air conditioner was so loud that sleeping was almost impossible.

A really convenient base for cycling, close to the end of the Rhone bike trail and still inside the old town, with good restaurants and takeaways nearby. The street itself is quiet. We had a huge balcony to ourselves, comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a good Wi-Fi connection, around 50 mb/s, which was enough for work and HD streaming. The bathrooms look old, but they were clean and well maintained; the toilet and shower are in separate rooms. The rest of the room feels fairly modern. There’s also a locked bike garage reached by elevator, handy with 20 kg of luggage, plus a washer and drier that are great for a bike tour. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good. They were happy to serve us as early as seven when we asked. I enjoyed my two days here.

Such good value, with a great location, breakfast, and service. I wish more hotels were like this.
