Les Demeures de Valette

The setting is beautiful and peaceful, with lovely countryside views, a wonderful pool and terrace, and a carefully restored building that keeps its character. Our room on the third floor was enormous and had stunning views. After cycling 103 miles from Tours in June 2023, my adult son, his friend and I arrived exhausted around 3 PM. Agnes welcomed us warmly and, even though it was between meals, put together an incredible feast. She also went out of her way to make us a delicious dinner. Caesar was just as friendly and helpful. It felt like a heavenly retreat, and I hope I can return. Thank you, Agnes and Caesar. I hope your triathlon went well!

We only stopped here overnight while driving to Portugal, and immediately wished we had more time. We called on the day, and the owner offered us dinner after our long drive. It was lovely food, made with care by the owners, and came with a nice bottle of wine. The room was comfortable, with a good bed and a bathtub. The next day the owner showed us around the garden, with its lovely animals, beautiful nature and breathtaking infinity pool. The friendly service made us feel welcome and relaxed. We’ve already recommended this hidden gem to lots of friends and will definitely come back.

This was our fifth stay in two years while travelling to or from Saint-Malo, and we’re always greeted so warmly at this beautiful chateau. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed a good home-cooked dinner and an excellent breakfast. The electric vehicle charging stations are really practical for us. Bring your own cable, it’s a normal plug with accelerated charging. Thanks to Agnès for welcoming us so warmly and cooking a delicious meal.

We stopped here on the way down to Bordeaux and regretted not booking the whole week. The food was lovely and home-cooked, the hosts were friendly, and the views and infinity pool were amazing. The place has a chic boutique feel, with designer furniture and sculptures, and it’s been kitted out superbly after a recent refurbishment, or perhaps it opened recently, I’m not sure. The interior is stylish and spacious. And the wine deserves a mention too.
