Victoria, a lovely French lady, welcomed us warmly. She made breakfast each morning, simple but adequate, and was always friendly and helpful. Apart from breakfast, there’s no catering at the chateau, though there’s an arrangement with Olivier at the Relais Saint Louis hotel and restaurant just up the road, where you can get a drink at the bar or choose from delicious food options. The common areas and bedrooms are marvellous. Our room was huge, clean, warm, and comfortable, with a massive bathroom. It doesn’t have a key, but that really wasn’t an issue. The chateau feels like stepping into another era, though some parts need renovation. The splendid breakfast room is cold and draughty.

We came to the area to visit Le Perche this summer. Leo and his lovely wife have made the place feel like an oasis, and the rooms are super comfortable. The historic atmosphere made it hard not to have a lovely stay.
