Hotel Restaurant Charme en Beaujolais

The rooms are very small, but it works well for a one-night stop. Everything was clean, breakfast was great and the staff were friendly.

We'd stayed there twice before, but after this visit we won't book again. We had reserved a room ahead of time and asked to be booked into the restaurant, only to be told it was full. We were bitterly disappointed, and feel they could have found a place for the two of us if they'd tried. They could at least have offered a takeaway.

The restaurant serves decent food and local wine, and breakfast is generous by French standards, with eggs and more. Friendly staff, some of whom speak English, and friendly dogs are welcome. For us it cost 20€ less through booking.com. It's a practical stop when driving north or south: nothing special, but the clean rooms are right by the road and fine for the price. You can hear people passing in the evening and in the morning, though it was surprisingly quiet overnight. Intermarché gas station is just around the corner.

Our car broke down, so we ended up staying here for two nights unexpectedly. Belleville is a quiet little town on the Saone, with miles of riverside walking. The staff were kind to us, the evening meal and breakfast were good, and the bar came in handy after we learned what the car repair would cost. Breakfast starts early, at 6:30, so you can get on the road quickly. It's an excellent place to break up a journey.
