L'éclos des Vignes

A peaceful, beautiful apartment close to some of Alsace's loveliest villages. It matched the description exactly, with very comfortable bedding and a well-equipped kitchen full of high-quality appliances. We asked the day before and were able to enjoy the spa one evening. It was so relaxing. We also had excellent meals at the restaurant on both evenings it was open during our stay. Amandine was always kind and helpful. You can book with complete confidence.

Our stay was booked through Booking.com in April 2025 for December 20-23, 2025, and the host confirmed it then. In October, we were told the spa and jacuzzi wouldn't be available, with no clear explanation. When we asked the manager, we learned it was for financial reasons: the rate we'd secured didn't allow the establishment to provide that service. But the terms had been clear and accepted by both sides in April. The cancellation came just a month and a half before our trip to Alsace for the Christmas markets, leaving us with no real choice and unable to find equivalent accommodation in the region. The establishment seems high quality, but the manager is not up to the job and engages in dishonest practices. Be aware of this.

The apartment at Éclos des Vignes was comfortable, well-appointed and clean, with a pleasant setting among the vineyards. The accommodation and surroundings are attractive, but the welcome felt impersonal. No staff member was there to greet us on arrival. Check-in was awkward and not customer-focused: we had to call, got no answer, and eventually received the access codes by phone. The advertised baby crib hadn't been set up, which suggested a lack of attention to detail. The spa, a major part of how the establishment presents itself, was limited, with restricted access and advance reservations required. The sauna wasn't working when we requested it. The on-site restaurant opens only occasionally and seems to operate almost independently, with little service interaction with guests. For a demanding guest, the ambitious presentation alongside some features not being available made for a disappointing stay.

The spacious apartment was quiet and surrounded by lovely scenery, and the village was an easy walk away. The owner was very friendly and offered useful tips. We also enjoyed the excellent wellness area. Four out of five stars for our pleasant stay at L'Eclos des Vignes. There were a few niggles: the jacuzzi had a lot of chlorine, we didn't have enough towels, there was no dishwashing brush, and we had just one garbage bag for five days. We noticed cobwebs and dust, and the toilet didn't flush well, so we had to sort it out with a bucket of water. With those things fixed, it would have been a five-star stay. Still, I recommend this apartment for a peaceful visit and exploring the many picturesque villages, castles, ruins and vineyards.
