ibis Bethune Centre Gare

There’s an amazing Peruvian restaurant opposite, and it’s an easy hour’s drive to the tunnel. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. They offer good value electric car charging, with a space reserved if you request one.

The hotel was good in every other way, and they were able to move us to a lower floor, so we still had a good stay. The windows were frightening with young children: on the fifth or sixth floors, they opened fully, there was a step that brought them to knee height, and they had no lock.

The rooms and shared areas are modern and new, it’s quiet, the beds are comfortable, and there’s a small secure car park out back for an extra €10. The hotel is right by the train station and a simple five-minute drive from the A26. Béthune’s center is a 15-minute walk away, with more cafés, bars and restaurants. Ibis does small, modern hotels in handy locations well, and this is a good example. It isn’t fancy, the restaurant and breakfast options are limited but adequate, and the rooms are small with little suitcase space, so a long stay in the room wouldn’t be ideal. For a reasonably priced overnight stop just south of Calais, it works well.

Thanks to Laurence and the whole team for the best service I’ve ever received. Everyone was very kind and attentive to every detail, and breakfast was worth it.
