Campanile NATURE - Bordeaux Lac

This is a basic, good-value place to sleep, with beds and not much else. Our twin room was clean, though it could use a proper deep clean. The air-conditioning dial’s front cover was broken, but the unit worked. The bathroom shelf was loose enough that I only trusted it with small things. Housekeeping didn’t replace the toilet paper, so I had to ask at reception. The hotel is five minutes from the tram and about 25 minutes from the city centre. We skipped the meals because €15 per person for breakfast felt expensive for what you get.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, where both the buffet and the service were excellent. We stayed Saturday night to attend Rugby World Cup matches at Matmut Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, and the venue was an easy ten-minute walk away. Highly recommended.

The room was in good shape and very clean, and I was especially happy with the hairdryer. Hotel dryers that can handle long hair without taking three hours are hard to find! Reception is open around the clock, and the staff were nice and spoke good English. Breakfast didn’t feel worth €9.99, and I wouldn’t have paid for it had I known what was included. The restaurant staff didn’t speak English, so communicating was a bit difficult.

Dinner had a good range of hot dishes, and breakfast was good too, with lots of fresh fruit, which I don’t find at many hotels. The staff were professional and attentive. It’s good value and welcomes dogs. We paid €10 for three small dogs for three nights, even though the stated charge is €5 per dog per night.
