Hôtel des 4 Soeurs

The location is very central, with lots of sights nearby, and the tourism office is right on the corner of the same street, which was extremely helpful. Our room’s view was beautiful from the windows, assuming you get one facing the city centre. Rooms were made up and cleaned regularly, but there were stains on the toilet, bathtub, and carpet, and some walls and moldings were loose or stained. We paid just under 650 dollars for four nights. To me that felt overpriced given the hotel’s physical condition, as if we were paying more for its central location than for the hotel itself. There’s no fridge in the room, so I wouldn’t buy anything that needs refrigeration. The room phone wasn’t connected to anything, and there didn’t seem to be anywhere to plug it in. We tried breakfast, but there was mostly nothing available. We arrived 30 minutes before it ended, yet the selection didn’t seem extensive.

The staff were perfectly friendly, and the room worked fine as a place to sleep, but I didn’t actively enjoy staying here. At first glance my room looked clean. After a closer look, though, it seemed to have had only quick cleans for months or years, with grime left in the corners. The carpets are worn, dust is piled up in hard-to-reach spots like the tops of door frames, and the walls show lots of quick fixes that someone decided were good enough. I read the critical reviews and thought I’d prefer somewhere authentic to a dull corporate hotel. The location is wonderful, but I’d say go elsewhere. The place feels *tired*, as if the owners have been making do in the same routine for a decade without noticing how shabby it’s become. Like buying second-hand furniture, sometimes you find a charming old antique. This hotel feels more like a scratched cabinet with cheap interiors and drawers that jam and rattle.

The hotel’s rooms showed some wear, as you’d expect in an older place, but it wasn’t very expensive and I had a great stay. The rooms were clean, the staff very friendly, and the location was amazing.

Right in the old city centre and very close to the trams, the location is amazing. The rooms were clean, though there were a few stains here and there. We found lots of mosquitoes in the room when we arrived, so nets on the windows would help. The hallway smells quite bad, luckily the smell doesn’t reach the room. There’s no AC, despite it being advertised. It’s just a vent, and it doesn’t work well.
