La Maison Bord'eaux

The standout positive was the spacious walk-in closet, and the service was attentive. At checkout, the receptionist asked how our stay had gone. When I mentioned the bathroom, she said she would have tried to fix the problem straight away if we’d told her earlier. She kindly gave us a day of free parking as an apology, which we appreciated. We were in room 003, and the layout made it uncomfortable. Its door opens straight from the inner courtyard, facing the bed, so there’s little privacy. We had to keep the heavy curtains closed, which shut out the daylight. On sunny days breakfast is served in the courtyard, so guests may be sitting right outside the windows too. The biggest problem was a strong, unpleasant smell from the bathroom that reached the bedroom even with the door shut. The bathroom was set up for guests with reduced mobility, which didn’t suit us very well. We’d already unpacked and didn’t want to move everything, so we didn’t ask to switch rooms. If you’re given room 003, I’d suggest requesting another one.

The welcome was lovely, with the staff making us feel at home as soon as we arrived. It’s a nice boutique hotel within walking distance of the city center and public transport.

After sightseeing, we liked unwinding in the inner courtyard with a glass of Bordeaux wine. We had three wonderful evenings at La Maison, where the staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful with restaurant suggestions. Our room was clean, comfortable, and laid out efficiently. Breakfast had lots of tasty choices, and the coffee and croissants were fantastic. It felt like a great value and a lovely place to stay, and we’d come back. Merci, La Maison!

Traveling with a toddler can be a lot, but here we felt right at home. The staff were wonderful, always greeting us with a smile and doing everything they could to make us comfortable. They arranged a lovely wine tour and booked restaurants for us. Breakfast could be better, but our stay was still a beautiful experience.
