Appart-Hôtel Mer & Golf City Bordeaux Lac

The area has plenty to do and a great tram stop nearby. My room was clean and well equipped, and housekeeping changed the bedding about halfway through my three-week stay.

We had a good experience with the front desk, and one staff member spoke excellent English. Another spoke a little, and we got by despite my poor French. The main bed was comfortable, though the bedroom felt a bit cramped. The kids' sofa bed in the main room wasn't comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of equipment, a good-sized fridge, and a dishwasher. Getting into Bordeaux was easy, with a tram stop five minutes away on foot. The lake is about a 10-minute walk, and there are two supermarkets plus lots of cafes, bistros, and restaurants nearby. We hit 37°C weather during the first two days and nights. The air conditioning stopped working and wasn't fixed until two days later, so those first nights were warm. There was no hot water either, though we didn't mind having cool showers. We arrived after reception had closed and found no staff on site. After we called the contact number, a man directed us to an ATM-style machine to collect the room key. He said we should have received an email explaining this, but none arrived. It all worked out, though an email would've helped.

We had a great stay while bringing our kids to Bordeaux for another school year.

The woman at the desk was lovely, and the aparthotel itself was good. Our room was clean, quiet, and big enough for two, with Wi-Fi. There are nice restaurants nearby, and activities for kids too. I gave it three stars because our flight was cancelled and the airline paid for one night here. The hotel is really far from the airport, though, and the taxi from there cost us €60. Too far out for that situation.
