Volubilis Guest House

The location worked well for us, with a five-minute walk along narrow sidewalks to the nearest tram stop. We stayed in the Magna room beside the common room, which was convenient, though some noise occasionally came through. The room was nicely furnished and had a coffee machine and kettle with tea. The salon has kitchen facilities and is also where they serve an excellent breakfast. We really enjoyed our visit. Thank you!

The stylish, pleasant decor was a plus, and the family suite on the top floor was comfortable enough. Still, at €325+ per night, it didn’t feel like good value. You’re outside the city center, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but I’d expect either a better price or exceptional accommodations. There was little to no contact with the hosts or anyone else, so the stay felt impersonal, even a bit eerie. Breakfast was self-serve and nothing special. The old coffee machine was clunky, took ages for one cup, and offered no milk options. You could add cold milk or warm some in the microwave. There was also a wooden beam in the room that I kept banging my head on. I’d stay again, but probably not at such a high price during high season.

The building has been beautifully renovated, and the rooms and common areas are tastefully decorated. We stayed two nights at the end of our trip, after leaving our rental car, and could walk to the relevant parts of Bordeaux city centre. Breakfast was self-serve, with good quality produce ready when we woke up.

We stayed nearly two weeks and felt right at home. The guest house is elegant and beautiful, and a five-minute walk takes you to Camille Godard tram station for an easy connection into the city. Our Magna room was spacious and elegant, with a lovely terrace and direct access to the kitchen area. Ludovic and his wife looked after us so well, serving a fresh, high-quality breakfast every morning: croissant, pain au chocolat, French toast, baguette, boiled eggs, freshly made fruit salad, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and great locally made jams. We can’t recommend it enough!
