Camping Caravaning Château de Bouafles

We only stayed one night on the way into our holiday in France, and I wish we'd booked two. The pitch was spacious and well maintained, set in lovely grounds. That evening there was a music quiz and karaoke at the outdoor bar, with a welcoming atmosphere that made it easy for everyone to join in.

The private pitches, with tall hedges all around, made for a lovely stay with our family of four and our dog. Our campervan spot was flat and well kept, with gravel for parking and sunny grass to sit on. We found the showers and toilets near the spa and chateau spotless and well stocked. The showers were warm, with a shelf and towel rail, and the sinks had their own separate cubicles. We spent time in both common rooms. The tower has a great teenage hangout, with table football, a games console, comfy seats and a TV, plus bean bags upstairs. In the main chateau there’s a warm seating area with a TV, board games, pool table and rustic decor. You can borrow rackets for tennis or badminton, crazy golf clubs, and ping pong paddles there too. The shop has ice cream, biscuits, wine, jams and preserves, and you can order fresh bread and pastries the day before. We had pastries, hot chocolate and coffee out on the terrace. The terrace was also where we had one of our best karaoke nights, thanks in particular to Sophie and the other locals who made it so much fun. Fabienne and Eric have made a really special place. Their homemade pizza was exceptional, and their dog was super friendly, almost as beautiful as the chateau and gardens. We didn’t get a chance to try the swim-up jet pool, jacuzzi or sauna this time, but we’ll do that when we come back. It was such a relaxing family stay, and we’ll definitely repeat it. Thank you!

The team made us feel welcome straight away, and the site was both quiet and extremely friendly. It has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. This may be the best place we’ve stayed in France, and we’ll keep coming back. Five stars.

We really enjoyed the spa, and there are plenty of places to play sports, including tennis and basketball. It’s also a great base for hiking and cycling. The hosts were lovely, the place was beautiful and clean, and the atmosphere was great. Dinner from the food truck was delicious, and we liked their wine collection too. We hope we get the chance to come back!
