Hotel Orée des Châteaux

We only stayed one night before heading back to Paris, but had a good time. Breakfast was good, and the hotel is well positioned for visiting the Chateaux in the region. There’s also a chocolatier just down the road. It’s listed as two stars, which seemed low to me, though the place feels more like a unit than a hotel. Our bed was comfortable, the walk-in shower was great, and it was quiet. I think my wife and I made more noise than anyone else.

Glad we picked this place for our trip to Chambord palace. A brilliant place to stay.

The apartment was nicely equipped, with a small kitchen, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, and more, though we only stayed two days and didn’t get to use it. Breakfast was okay, with ham, cheese, cereal, yogurt, coffee, milk, croissants, and pancakes. There’s a French restaurant two minutes away on foot, open for lunch and dinner, and a chocolate artisan factory nearby. The hotel is conveniently about 10 km from Chambord castle. The room was kind of dirty, with spider webs everywhere and a floor that seemed not to have been wiped for quite some time. The towels were ripped.

The rooms were spacious, modern, and spotless, with good service and parking right in front of the house. Breakfast wasn’t something I’d recommend. It’s a handy place if you’re visiting the castles, especially Chambord, and there are a few nice restaurants around too.
