Mercure Brest Centre Port

The breakfast had plenty of choice and the coffee was good, and the Wi-Fi was fast enough. I stayed four nights at Mercure Brest Centre Port. The place felt almost new and was well kept, with friendly, helpful staff. My room had everything I needed apart from a coffee machine, and they replenished the water daily. There’s no gym, but I’d definitely recommend it.

The location and amenities were decent, but the way management handled payment made our stay stressful. We ran into a small problem with our payment method, and even after explaining and trying to sort it out, they were rigid and dismissive rather than discussing alternatives. That lack of flexibility overshadowed a hotel with potential and a vacation that should have been relaxing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re sure you can meet their strict payment terms.

There are better hotels in Brest for similar prices, and I wouldn’t recommend this one for business or corporate stays. The room was cramped and noisy, with road noise, a bad smell in the bathroom, and nowhere to sit except the bed. There was barely room for a suitcase unless it went under the bed, and the tiny table made computer work impossible. No Nespresso-style coffee machine, not even a bottle of water, and the staff weren’t flexible. Avoid.

Breakfast was really good, and the staff were very friendly. The rooms are comfortable, though they could do with updating to match other ibis hotels. There’s parking on site, but spaces are limited.
