A lovely place, and the best restaurant in Calais. I love it and will come back.

My friend and I ate here last week, and it was so good I wanted to write a review. The service, atmosphere, menu and wine selection were all excellent. The steak and fish were succulent, the portions were sufficient, and the vegetables were well balanced with the main dish. Dessert wasn’t too sweet, and Armagnac was a lovely way to finish. I’ll keep coming back whenever I stay overnight in Calais.

We’ve been coming to La Sole Meunière for more than 25 years, and it remains a firm favourite. The owner always gives us a genuinely warm welcome, and the team is friendly and helpful. Service is first class, and the food is consistently delicious and inventive. Even if you’re only in Calais for the day, it’s worth making time for a special meal here.

It isn’t the cheapest restaurant, but the food is excellent quality, especially the fish, and the waiters serve it very politely. They don’t speak much English, so you can ask for a translated menu or check the one displayed outside before you go in and order.
