Villa Florentine, A Beauvallon Hotel & Spa

From the welcoming, professional staff to the wonderful setting on Fourviere Hill, our stay was amazing. The team helped make sure we had a great time in Lyon, and the hotel itself is beautiful and full of history. The panoramic city views are incredible. We can’t wait to come back.

We had plenty of room for ourselves and our huge luggage, and every staff member was friendly and spoke English. Service was impeccable. The hotel sits above Vieux Lyon, with lovely views. Right beside it, Montée des Chazeaux is a handy staircase straight down into Vieux Lyon, though it’s a 100ft+ climb back up. Google walking directions seem to skip the stairs. If you’re reasonably fit, they’re a fun way to get in and out. A couple of mosquitoes showed up in the room each evening even with the windows shut. I could catch them easily, so it wasn’t a deal breaker.

We walked to Monsieur P and back, and it was perfect, definitely not to be missed. Concierge Quentin?, recommended this gastronomic restaurant, which is awaiting their MIchelin Star in '26. The hotel is nicely placed just above the old town, but getting down means 240 steps or taking the longer route around. We managed, though it could be difficult for elderly guests. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, and the views are outstanding. The hotel is quite high above the city, with a lot of steps, so it may not suit anyone who struggles with hills, though they can arrange transport. The very nice rooms cost a bit more, but a junior suite was definitely worth it. Check the view when booking: some rooms face the garden wall. Those rooms might work better for families because of their layout.
