Le bruit des vagues

The location is good, practically just behind the seafront at Calais beach, but the place felt like more show than substance. The structure didn't seem solid, and the walls felt like cardboard. You can hear everything through them, including, unfortunately, the person renting the lower floor vomiting loudly in the middle of the night. The listing on Booking says, "the entire accommodation is yours," but that isn't true. Someone else rents the downstairs, with access through the garage. That's my main complaint, and calling the whole place yours feels frankly deceptive to consumers. The bathroom ventilation was extremely dirty, too, and the washing machine was in a disgraceful state. We were lucky that it apparently broke down and was replaced with a used but acceptable one. Still, the rusty, shabby machine initially provided was no way to treat tenants.
