La Grande Maison

We spent the evening by the pool in the front courtyard, listening to the birds. It was so peaceful. The house and room were beautiful, with lots of tasteful art, and everything felt comfortable. Christian made and served us a delicious dinner and breakfast himself. A wonderful experience. Merci beaucoup, Christian!

The place is beautiful, but we had a very bad experience with the owner. From the moment my friend and I arrived, the atmosphere felt negative and uncomfortable. We called at 22:30 to ask about a twin room and said we'd probably arrive around 22:00, give or take. On the phone, he was friendly and told us not to rush, but when we got there he was annoyed that we were late and not “on time.” He also insisted we had asked for a double room, even though a twin room was the first thing I asked about. He spoke to us badly and wouldn't let us talk, saying we might disturb other guests, though we never saw or heard anyone else in the house. After a year living in France and 12 years of travel, he's the rudest and least welcoming host I've encountered. It was strange after reading the other guests' comments calling him nice. His behavior was the opposite of hospitality. I'll never recommend this place or stay here again.

We've stayed here several times, and the owners have always been friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious, and the bathrooms are large, clean, and equipped with all amenities. Right in the middle of the Malepere wine region. Just perfect all around.

A lovely quiet spot to unwind. The host was friendly, the food was simple and good, and the room was clean.
