Auberge Des Lices

Bravo, I actually tried recreating one of the dishes at home today, which I rarely feel like doing. We only ate at the restaurant and didn't stay at the hotel. The food was thoughtfully put together and cooked really well, the service was great, and the quality for the price was good. A great place to take visiting friends or maybe impress someone on a second date.

We came for lunch as a group of 22, and the dessert was delicious, thank God. The salad had raw fosh. My salmon steak was cooked, but tasted raw and had no flavor, with a burnt exterior. When I said I didn't like it and couldn't eat fish that wasn't properly cooked, the waiters were rude and unhelpful. Also, there's only one WC in the restaurant.

The setting was lovely and the food was terrific. I had the octopus starter, cassoulet and apple pie, all first class. My wife enjoyed the crystal bread, ham and truffle infused cheese starter, then the rack of lamb. We shared a lovely bottle of local rosé, and the serving staff were delightful. Service was a bit haphazard, though: it took 40 mins for anyone to take our order, we had to ask twice about the water, and the pause between courses felt long. None of that spoiled the evening, which we really enjoyed. A lovely meal, recommended.

We only had dinner. The food was very well prepared and the service was good. You can keep the bill down with the least expensive menu, or spend more ordering à la carte and exploring the wine list. Either way, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
