Good Knight

We booked a room with a terrace, and the castle view from the balcony, and even from bed, was amazing. There are benches outside too, a nice place to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery. The hotel is perfectly placed for views of the medieval town and exploring the Cité Médiévale. The entrance to Carcassonne is only a two-minute walk away, and there are plenty of restaurants inside the medieval town for before or after a castle visit. There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but an excellent place directly across the street has an outdoor terrace for meals. Getting in was easy: no staff are on site, and you collect the keys from a secure lockbox at the entrance using a code emailed before arrival. The common area has complimentary coffee, water, and tea, which is appreciated, but it isn’t ideal for early risers. In-room amenities would be much more convenient for anyone wanting morning caffeine without leaving the room. A perfect place for a romantic getaway with a historical touch.

The car park is brilliantly located in a secure area. The room was simple and comfortable, the shower was good, and it was serviced every day with a little chocolate and coffee capsules left for us. The coffee machine is outside the room, but there’s a kettle in the room. Great location.

The location is great, but this didn’t feel like a hotel despite the name. These are bare, slightly uncomfortable rooms in a residential house, more like an Airbnb, with a slightly odd smell and no reception. I wouldn’t stay again. If you’re desperate and just need somewhere to sleep close to the cité, it’s probably fine, but it wasn’t a particularly charming experience.

The location is excellent, with a great view and a short walk to the citadel, and the staff were excellent too. The bed was comfortable, and the outside space was fine when we used it once. The room needs work, though: the curtains were stained, the toilet seat was broken, and storage for clothes was minimal. There was space for five items to hang and two shelves for two people staying over five nights, with no drawers or cupboards. The two chairs were very hard, leaving nowhere to relax in the cold March weather. Shutters in another room need fixing too, since they rattled in the wind and kept us awake all night. The walls were very thin as well, so I’d recommend bringing earplugs.
